Non- Conventional Means To Teach Low English Proficient Students
The nature of teaching has undergone a sea change during the last two decades. Recent years have shown an explosion of interest in using computers for English language teaching and learning. The availability of multimedia computing and the interest, the role of computers in English language instruction to Low English Proficient (LEP) students has now become an important issue for large numbers of English language teachers throughout the world. The paper analysis and illustrates the various software available and their use in the education of Low English Proficient (LEP) students. It throws light on the emerging technologies in the education of LEP students-the use of multimedia and its impact in the teaching learning process. The paper also stipulates how technology lends a helping hand for the teachers as well as the students. It concludes by insisting, that the teacher of the 21 st century should be highly proficient person in academics, teaching technology and the emerging vision of a global society.
