English Task Oriented Strategies for the English Classroom-Raising Teacher Awareness

Keeping the Indian classroom in mind, this workshop will encourage participants to explore task-oriented / communicative approaches to teaching English.
Workshop objectives:

• Share concerns about the impact of English communicative competency (learner and teacher) on language learning
• Raise awareness about the need for teachers to address skills development systematically to help language
• Reflect on learner / teacher needs in one’s own context.

The participants will work on 5/6 activities on issues relating to teaching English through tasks/activities. The activities will focus on

• Communication and language learning
• The role of tasks in language learning
• Skills and strategies needed to use English as a learning tool.
